Story

Hi there,

I have decided to do something really amazing and challenging to help build the first detox centre in New South Wales catering specifically for people aged 16 to 24. 145Classic: Ride for Youth is a test of power and endurance - complete a 120km endurance ride from Sydney CBD to Kiama, with the option of joining the Jamberoo Mountain Challenge, a 25km timed ascent of Jamberoo Mountain Pass to Triple Care Farm at Robertson. A total ride of 145kms!

Triple Care Farm is an award winning rehab program that saves lives by helping young people to deal with addiction issues, mental health issues, homelessness and family breakdown. The new detox centre will be built at Triple Care Farm, and will be a state of the art centre with round the clock medical supervision and support necessary to help 16 to 24 year olds to safely withdraw.

I have created my own fundraising page here, where you can make a secure and tax deductible (has to be more than $2) donation to support my efforts in completing this tough but rewarding ride!
It would also be really great it if you could share my page above or comment below so more people know about this amazing ride and cause!

Where does your donation go?

Your money goes directly towards building the first youth Detox Centre in New South Wales. The centre will cost approximately $3 million to build, wiht more than $1.4 million raised already. Some examples of what your donation can buy are:

  • $50 - buys an essential toiletries pack for a young person, many of whom arrive with nothing
  • $100 - covers accommodation food and medical (GP visits) costs for a young person
  • $300 - buys a young person a Suicide Prevention Counselling session
  • $500 - buys a family counselling session with a trained Drug and Alcohol Counsellor
  • $1000 - buys a 'brick', a major contribution to the building works of the new detox centre

Thanks so much for supporting my ride and helping to make a difference to young people in crisis!

    Sir David Martin Foundation

Sir David Martin Foundation was set up in 1990 by the much loved Governor of New South Wales, Sir David Martin, four days prior to his death. The Foundation aims to realise the dream of Sir David Martin of an Australian community “where children can grow up in safety with hope and opportunity”. The Foundation raises funds for innovative and effective Mission Australia run youth crisis programs. We provide care, counselling, training and support for young people in crisis and foster community understanding of their needs and potential. With the goal to get more young people off the streets, away from unhealthy situations and into care and rehabilitation. We aim to encourage them in a new sense of self belief so that they can face the community at large without the need for drugs, crime and homelessness.
